After growing up in rural Utah, I completed a degree in biology at the University of Utah and a Master of Science degree in Reproductive Physiology at Utah State. The research for this degree required working with large goat herds in the Central Valley of California. I recorded the normal reproductive cycle in goats and investigated means to change the seasonal nature of this cycle. After completing this work, I became a research associate and teaching assistant in the School of Veterinary Medicine at U.C. Davis. I was accepted into the UCD School of Veterinary Medicine in 1980. After graduation in 1984, I moved to Loveland with my husband, Dr. Ray Whalen. Over the past 23 years, I have enjoyed working with both large and small animals in this community. I live on the outskirts of Loveland with my husband, one dog, and two cats. I have two children, Devin and Briana, in college. My family has been an important part of the construction, maintenance, and ongoing work at the Blue Sky Animal Clinic. |

I was born and raised in the mountains of northern New Mexico. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from New Mexico State University in 1986. I was employed by IBM as a computer programmer in San Jose CA and then in Boulder Colorado before deciding to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. I graduated from the professional veterinary medicine program at CSU in 2002. I'm fortunate to have been an employee of Dr. Romm's in some capacity for the past 13 years and thrilled to be part of the outstanding health care team at Blue Sky. I live west of Loveland with my husband Matthew, one Siberian husky, three cats, two llamas, five goats, and various numbers of pet ducks! |

After spending my childhood in rural Nebraska, I earned a degree in anthropology with a minor in biology at the University of Texas at Austin in 1994. The same year, I married my husband, and we moved to the Rockies. For a couple of years, I worked as a veterinary technician and was also employed by Heska, a veterinary biotechnology company. I began veterinary school at Colorado State University in 1996 and graduated four years later as co-valedictorian of my class. While in school, I worked on a project designed to better understand and treat cancer in the dog. After graduating and working at another veterinary hospital in Loveland, I am now very happy to be a part of the skilled, caring staff at Blue Sky Animal Clinic! My husband, Mike; son, Daniel; and I currently live in the foothills west of Loveland with three cats - Maggie, Slide, and Little Cat; and two dogs - George and Thunder. |

I was born just outside of Chicago, but my family quickly headed south to Houston where I was raised. In 1995 I moved to Austin, where I earned a B.S in Zoology from the University of Texas. I completed my veterinary curriculum at Texas A&M University, graduating with high honors. During vet school I participated in an externship at the CDC in Atlanta, where I worked on a project studying the problem of antimicrobial resistance. I also spent time in Kaneohe, HI working under a board-certified surgeon. Following graduation from A&M, my husband Matt and I moved to Colorado, bringing with us our family of two cats (Raisin and Pascal) and one dog (Ariel). I am very excited to be here in Colorado working with the competent and caring team at Blue Sky. |

I was born in Spokane, WA and my family moved to Phoenix, AZ when I was 10. All the while, we spent summers in Indianapolis, IN traveling the Indy Car racing circuit -- a very interesting way to grow up! I earned my bachelor's degree in wildlife biology at the University of Arizona in 1994. I worked for the Forest Service and AZ Game and Fish for 4 years prior to attending vet school. I studied Northern Goshawks and worked on the Black Footed Ferret reintroduction project in northern Arizona. I attended Colorado State University's professional veterinary medical program and earned my DVM in 2002. I worked at a clinic in Fort Collins for 3 ½ years prior to arriving at Blue Sky Animal Clinic. I am so happy to be a part of this compassionate and extremely professional health care team! I currently live in Fort Collins with my dog (Sam), my cat (George) and my 2 cockatiels (Larry Bird and Big Bird). I board my horse (Indy) at a barn on the Poudre River. I enjoy hiking, bird watching, riding and flying small planes in my free time. |
